About fifteen years into our marriage, James and I found ourselves caught up in a vicious cycle that lasted for several years.

Jesus said, “Man loves darkness rather than light because his deeds are evil.” Our nation and much of the church gropes in darkness, stumbling in the pit of defeat, despair, depression and destruction. God is anxious to lead us in His light to reveal His ways in order to bless us and bless through us. He is inviting everyone into the light of His glorious presence.

Modern life affords many opportunities, but along with it comes many challenges. Adversity has the potential to overwhelm us. This is where America finds herself at this very moment. We seem to be adrift on an ocean of uncertainty, with a crew that we don’t trust fighting for control of the ship. The passengers rightly ask, “Who can correct our course?”

Everyone is aware the housing market has crashed. For many, it was the loss of their hopes and dreams, as well as investments, construction businesses and a huge labor force. As I drive through various subdivisions in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, I frequently see homes for sale. Some of them are magnificent structures, others are very modest.

This week I want to share with you what a dedicated husband and father who truly loves God, the church and the nation shared with ministry leaders who came together to pray for spiritual and national awakening. I encourage you to read it and pass it on:

It has been well stated that if we do not learn lessons from history and the tragic consequences of bad decisions, they will be repeated. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:

Jesus said, “Love your enemies.” He never said, “Get in bed with them.” I understand the provocative nature of what I just said, but the fact is, it’s the truth. It is not only possible, but very important that we come to accept, understand and properly apply this commandment.

I know what it is like to live in poverty. I know what it is like to have nothing, but I was not taught to despise or resent everybody outside my meager environment. My mother had enough wisdom to teach me godly principles.
