Since 1968, James has presented the Gospel on television. In 1995, he and Betty launched the daily television program LIFE TODAY. Over the course of six decades, James preached in over 600 citywide evangelistic crusades attended by more than 20 million people and has personally inspired religious, political and social leaders.
The LIFE TODAY TV program has millions of potential viewers worldwide, resulting in over 20,000 calls to LIFE’s prayer center every month.

In 1989, Mission Feeding began with a challenge to feed 5000 starving children in Mozambique. Since that time, Mission Feeding has expanded and become instrumental in helping save the lives of more than 24 million children across the continent of Africa. Over 350,000 children are also fed daily!
Medical clinics, orphanages, fruit and vegetable farms and food-processing plants are also a part of LIFE Outreach’s programs in Africa.
As a result of LIFE-sponsored crusades and the ministry that occurs at the feeding centers, there have been more than 12 million decisions for Christ since 1990.

LIFE Centers can best be described by what they share in the communities they serve. Many began as shelters for children without homes, adding daily education and life-skills development as needed. Some began as community churches and expanded to feeding outreaches for the elderly and children. Others are homes for children freed from human trafficking. Each one is unique and shares the ministry of LIFE in ways necessary to that community.

“Will our grandchildren enjoy the freedom and prosperity we enjoy, or will they ask us, ‘Where were you when freedom died?’ The choices we make in the next few years – in our personal lives, families, churches, and politics – will determine the answer.”
“We must reject the thought that evangelism is to be separated from the importance of standing against evil. We weren’t saved just to escape this world and go to heaven. Transformed people transform the culture while standing boldly against evil.”
“We all acknowledge there are some things that need to be torn down and removed, but it seems to me that a leader who removes something must be able to recognize the necessity of replacing it with something that is effective and sustainable – so you don’t just tear down; you have to build up.”
