Gay activists are attempting to force same-sex "marriage" legislation into unrelated bills to overrule the will of the people.

Not an Idle Word

Stop a moment and consider the words of God after writing His commandments with a finger of fire on tablets of stone, the first of which and the one all others ultimately depend upon is, “Thou shalt have no other gods before Me.” Please take very seriously the words found in Deuteronomy 32:46-47: “Take to your heart all the words with which I am warning you today, which you shall command your sons to observe carefully, even all the words of this law. For it is not an idle word for you; indeed it is your life. And by this word you will prolong your days in the land, which you are about to cross the Jordan to possess.”

Just as Old Testament Israelites did, Americans have experienced Promised Land blessings. Our national anthem declares we are to be known as “the land of the free and the home of the brave.” Prolonging our days with the blessings only freedom makes possible depends upon the response of God’s church to the demands being made in this hour by those who reject the truth. Truth revealed by nature’s God and nature’s law. And this is just the beginning, hopefully, not the beginning of the end.

The church of Jesus Christ will either take a stand on God’s irrefutable truth, or witness the fall of our once great nation. The enemy of truth and father of lies has drawn his line in the sand and demands America choose whom they will serve. Will we refuse the promises of another Pharaoh to care for us as his dependent servant slaves, or take an even more foolish step by accepting another controlling force like Nebuchadnezzar? Remember, he not only required servanthood, but demanded that people worship his idols or face the fiery furnace.

Such are the threats against the church – ministers, pastors, priests, and any who refuse to compromise God’s call to put a trumpet to their lips, proclaiming truth and true liberty throughout the land. The church and her leaders now face the choice of bowing before the demands and gods of this world, or as the three Hebrew children did, refuse to bend, bow, or break regardless of any threats. They experienced firsthand the supernatural power of the fourth man in the midst of the fire and did not even smell of smoke. They were in fact a sweet smelling aroma in the nostrils of a holy and loving God. Count me in with them.

We must not stand by and accept the demands of Bible-denying, truth-denying, unprincipled people, however great their numbers who try to force us to participate or approve voting idols into high places throughout the land, the churches, or into law. The same-sex marriage issue is far bigger than giving people special rights and protection which the law already guarantees and which God’s people would certainly support. No one should be mistreated, even if we believe they make poor choices and participate in what scripture deems unwholesome. The fact is we are being asked to “change the truth into a lie” rather than flee idolatry and are being manipulated to embrace and exalt idolatry into national law. The American people are being asked to vote for idolatry, accept it, embrace it, and approve it. They are expected to call what is clearly unnatural “natural” and encourage people to live as prisoners to their own appetites whatever they may be: smoking pot, abusing drugs, engaging in extreme sexual practices – ultimately anything goes. This is where the nation is headed unless people who love God, His Word, and their neighbors take a stand against this tsunami of immorality.

I just left the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference (NHCLC) in Miami with over of 41,000 member churches. My close friend Samuel Rodriguez is the president of that vitally important Christian faith group. He preached “The Lamb’s Agenda” at last year’s “Under God, INDIVISIBLE” conference which I was privileged to host. It is now a published book being read and shared rapidly. For two days I listened to these concerned leaders and I spoke to this important church group. Immigration reform was one of the hot topics discussed, which included securing and protecting our borders. Corrective actions must be clearly defined and a wise, appropriate, compassionate approach must be put in place to deal with undocumented workers. I challenged the pastors to exhort and encourage the undocumented who profess faith to lead the way. Those who came over for right reasons but without legal documents should volunteer to be the first in line to come clean and admit what they have done even if someone helped them get dishonest papers. They should openly and willingly volunteer to pay the necessary fines and accept the penalties required to make it right. I told the NHCLC leaders that I would join them challenging all who have employed the undocumented workers to rightly acknowledge their role and not only pay their own fines, but offer to assist those workers. Fines and penalties must be within reason as there is wrongdoing on both sides of the border. I emphasized that the employer is the one best qualified to help identify skilled workers who are committed to their families and to the freedom found in this great nation. The employer recognizes the character necessary to accomplish worthwhile goals and assignments. Both parties must be involved in the process to gain permits in line with the demands of effective immigration reform guidelines.

Positive progress toward these ends is in sight, but people who are totally united together in lockstep and committed to their own idolatrous goals are discussing attaching same-sex marriage approval to immigration reform legislation. Senator Patrick Leahy (D-Vermont), who is the Judiciary Committee Chairman, has sponsored the deceptively-titled Uniting American Families Act (UAFA), which guarantees citizenship for the “permanent partners” of homosexual citizens. He has indicated that he will push to amend the immigration bill with this piece of gay activist legislation as early as next week. This crafty move will most likely lead to court challenges to overturn the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and force every state to legalize gay marriage.

We can expect attachments by the same-sex activists to begin polluting all legislation, especially if it is legitimately important and meaningful to the American people. Whatever they have to do to accomplish their goals, they will never waiver. For example, if Senator Leahy amends the immigration bill to satisfy gay activists, they will be saying, “If you want reform for immigrants, you must also accept same-sex marriage in this bill.” They will be insisting for the sake of 11 million people, citizens, including those who profess faith in God and His Word, must compromise biblical truth and undeniable principles in order for the immigration bill to pass.

Believers are faced with a choice. Pastors, church members, and those they influence must choose whom they will bow before and serve. The choice is clear however muddled some may try to make it. The issue is much bigger than the enemy of truth wants you to believe, far bigger. Idolatry will always challenge our citizens on their personal journey, each one of us. But are we as a nation going to vote idolatry on the throne? Whatever people, parties, and practices in our day demand, will we approve it either by our consent or by our silence?  Or will those who profess faith in Christ stand with as much commitment and unity as those who oppose irrefutable, undeniable, biblical truth? Never has the call of Christ and His prayer for unity among believers been more urgently important. We must be one with the Father and perfected in unity with one another.

On Christ the solid Rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand.

  1. Sooo glad I seen U on TBN yesterday, that’s how I got to read ur commentary when U gave the “.net” address. I was given this verse by 2 different ministers & bible school teacher; “My people perish for a lack of knowledge”…..they also encouraged me to go to Christian Book stores and get books that will help me grow spiritualy. I am so grateful that verse was in my heart,my mind and in my spirit. Its amazing how you can seen if people really want to change by recommending a book or letting them read one of mine. I watch “Life Today” every now and then depending on where I am and if they have cable or not. I use to wonder if I was the only one who seen what I have in our government. (I was born in 1944)Grew up in non-christian home but, when to church with mom’s mother when I spent weekend there.

  2. It saddens me that our leadership has undermined the Holy Bible and told the American people that Homosexuals should be allowed to marry. It is sad that people who insist that they are born again are advocating what is clearly abomination unto the Lord. I am not keeping quiet;I am speaking out.AS saints of God we do not hate the sinner but we hate the sin.

Thanks James for an excellent message. I struggled with homosexuality for 24 years, and I was delivered through Jesus Christ. You are right James, this lifestyle is idolatry and anti- God. I pray that this bill by the Senator Leahy will be defeated in Jesus name.

  5. Laurence St. John

We are witnessing the ecumenical politics of Babylon (confusion) rise up in America. Satan is heading up his antichrist church and using the hybridization of religious deception and government political propaganda to deceive all on the face of the earth whose names are not written in the Lamb’s book of life before the foundation of the world (Revelation 13). You will witness the judgment sign that God’s grace is finished with the Gentile world when Los Angeles sinks beneath the Pacific Ocean and you will know that a prophet has walked among you. This will throw this nation into complete chaos and destruction. The LORD God will at that time return in his full restoration power to the children of Israel and she will have her Day of Pentecost revival. Until then, the blasphemy of the Revelation of Jesus Christ will wax worse and worse and the deception of religion and politics will continue to gain momentum. Make note of James’ commentary very carefully; this is “not an idle word”. This is Thus Saith the LORD.

  6. I posted this on Facebook and I pray that other Christians will stand with James and Betty Robison and all of us who believe Jesus is the Only Way, the Only Truth, and the Only Life. Many of the words and thoughts written in this article are mine as well and I have spoken some of them out loud without hesitation. I especially liked James’s suggestions regarding “Amnesty” and the Immigration Reform that is truly needed in this country. My prayers will be going out to all those who are here illegally either because they have been hired to work for various employers or they have come here looking for a better life than they have in other countries. I pray that those who do have faith and who have come to this country for right and good reasons will lead the way that will provide help for those who truly are good people who want to do the right thing. Blessings Mr. Robison to you and to your wife as well for speaking words of wisdom at the NHCLC gathering in Miami.

  7. Timely article as always by James Robison.

  8. The New Testament identifies only two kingdoms… the realm of those controlled by the flesh (the unregenerate) and the realm of those controlled by the Spirit (the redeemed) (Rom. 8:5-9). Since Scripture plainly reveals that God’s redemptive purposes are focused exclusively on the latter, should we not rethink whether we should be wasting time and energy seeking to bring an unsaved culture into alignment with a “Judeo-Christian morality”? Should we be involved in trying to apply moral super-glue to a broken geo-political entity that Christ himself shattered?

Is it really the walls of Washington that need our attention, or should we be guarding and maintaining the walls of Zion? Should we be wasting time trying to apply moral CPR to a society that is already spiritually dead, or should we trust instead in the resurrecting power of the same gospel that “made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions” (Eph. 2:5)? Is it really our mission to build a better society, or should we be giving ourselves wholly to
Spirit-led efforts to build up the body of Christ?

The answers should be evident. To align our efforts with God’s revealed plans is to undertake a mission filled with expectation and hope. All other causes, including the various political agendas advanced by many Christian leaders today, can only end in frustration, disillusionment and unfulfilled expectations, as the past twenty years bear witness! To soft pedal the gospel in order to gain broader public support for a return to “Judeo-Christian values” as the panacea for society’s evils may keep sympathetic unbelievers on board, but it is a tragic compromise that will never enjoy the blessing of the Holy Spirit.

It isn’t necessary to dredge up the names of Sodom and Gomorrah as an example of fallen mankind’s propensity for evil. Right here in “America The Beautiful” the evidence of a universal bondage to sin fills our newspapers, our radio and television broadcasts, Hollywood’s productions, Madison Avenue’s advertising campaigns and every other aspect of our culture’s pursuits. Promiscuity, pornography and permissive paganism are proudly promoted while participation in prayer, preaching and praise is perversely prohibited in the public square. It is a society of sin-blinded pleasure seekers “who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter” (Isa. 5:20). Whether Corinth, Athens, or Rome in Paul’s day or New York, Chicago, or Detroit in ours, the natural bent of any society of unbelievers remains the same!

The New Testament provides a clear picture of what our relationship to the world should be characterized by. In 1 Peter (2:11-12) we are told, “Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul. Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.” Our lives here in America, or wherever God puts us, are to be characterized by the awareness that the world as it exists is not our permanent abode. Our affection for the things of this world should fade, and our desire to build God’s Kingdom should increase because we have become “fellow citizens with God’s people and members of God’s household.” (Eph. 2:19) Please Wake Up Church …please wake up …please
