Jesus said, “You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you, for he wrote, ‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.Their worship is a farce, for they teach man-made ideas as commands from God.’”[1]
My heart breaks and I join with the prophet Jeremiah saying, “Oh that my head were waters and my eyes a fountain of tears that I could weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people.”[2] We are becoming a nation of hypocrites just as Isaiah said, “Calling evil good and good evil; substituting darkness for light and light for darkness.”[3]
We are losing our children, not just to the assault of mentally deranged killers, but also at the hands of mothers- and fathers-to-be. While the nation discusses better ways to protect our school children, and rightly so, the population has allowed the lives of more than 50 million of the most helpless, innocent beings on the planet to be terminated. Tiny bodies ripped apart in the wombs of their mothers. No, we can’t stop all evil people from taking innocent lives, nor can we stop a determined mother from terminating her pregnancy, but we don’t have to approve those actions nationally with bad laws and court decisions. Judgment always comes on nations that shed innocent blood.[4] Isn’t it hypocritical to say you want to protect some innocent children, but not all innocent children? The German population tolerated the lie that some people must be exterminated – the Jews.
God is being mocked while people carry in their pockets and purses currency and coins that say they trust in God, but prove to be trusting in everything and everyone else but God. It’s Pharaoh all over again and worshiping idols in the high places. It’s one thing for a person to break a law and to live a lawless life. It becomes an entirely different matter when that population or nation changes the laws to accommodate the rebellion and disregard of God’s Word.
Sacred marriage, an institution established by God even before the church, is being desecrated by both heterosexuals and homosexuals. Practices which God says are inappropriate and even sinful are now being promoted as normal, being embraced and heralded as positive progress akin to civil rights. When the nation’s legislators and the courts approve that which God so obviously disapproves and which nature reveals as unnatural, it is an indicator that the downward spiral is rapidly increasing. God has made it clear that failure to acknowledge Him will lead to idolatrous practices, unnatural affections, and depraved thinking.
Homosexual activists were furious when the recent decision concerning the Boy Scouts allowing gay troop leaders aroused concern and even protests. Gay activists said, “You are implying that we may be pedophiles!” Well, one must wonder if that is next up for debate! Men and women who are attracted to children will simply say that the God whose word they disregard and whose very existence is frequently denied is to blame for creating them with those desires.
How twisted can people get in their thinking? What is the answer? How long will the nation practice hypocrisy indicating that we believe the Bible by taking an oath on it? The trend today is not only to get the Bible out of the courtroom and out of national inaugurations and all public events, but to actually get the God of the Bible out of American life. That’s the intent of the spirit of deception, darkness, and destruction committed to bringing this nation down. God says when you put other gods before Him, the hedge of protection will be removed and the enemy will come in like a flood. If you leave the shelter and shadow of the Almighty, storms will wreak havoc.
The consequences of rebellion and sin always results in the loss of that which is precious, including the ability to prosper. Bad practices and policies always take a toll on the economy. Always HAVE! Always WILL! I think the majority of Americans still believe right. We have allowed the people who don’t believe right to rule the day. A biased media is perhaps the greatest contributor. Americans are being taught to hate that which is good. It’s not just a matter of getting Christ out of Christmas and Christmas celebrations out of the public square, there is a move to get Christ out of America and out of every life! It’s not just our motto “In God We Trust” that is under assault, it’s the God in whom we must trust who is being attacked!
When individuals rebel against God, they will suffer the consequences in their personal lives. God is anxious to forgive, to cleanse, and to restore those who return to Him with repentant hearts. He will actually renew our minds and our thinking. We need that nationally. When a nation forgets God, forsakes and rebels against Him, that nation will suffer the consequences. The proof of this in history both biblical and for all time is irrefutable.
Americans are also making the tragic mistake of creating an enemy of those who have succeeded. They fail to consider that the upper end of income earners – the top 1%, 2%, 5%, or 10% – are paying the vast majority of taxes to support our federal government, which in turn provides all the entitlement care that people are crying out for. There is no sense of gratitude, just hatred for those who are portrayed as always greedy, which is far from the truth. The tragedy is the ability to even succeed is now also under attack. The very possibility of getting out of the pit of debt and despair, the possibility of an abundant harvest and prosperity is now under assault. It is now the very freedom that allows people to succeed and prosper that is being characterized as evil.
My challenge to those who’ve been blessed and have prospered is to no longer be satisfied with the fact that you may have paid 30–40% of your income to the federal government in taxes to help take care of the welfare programs and other problems. You’re going to have to become personally and compassionately involved with the needs of the suffering and downtrodden. You can’t continue to turn it over to Pharaoh (our federal government), believing their promises to take care of the poor. Many ask, “Why are concerned people protesting paying more taxes?” Who in their right mind would want to turn any more of their money over to a group that has so grossly mismanaged the money entrusted to their care? No sane person would want to give our government any more money to waste, spend ineffectively, or even use to promote destructive behavior. Common sense alone says, “Stop the insanity!”
To everyone who has succeeded and prospered financially, now is the time to not only focus your attention on God and get Him in first place, but don’t worship the blessings you’ve enjoyed no matter how much you like them. Now is the time to really love your neighbor and establish compassionate connections. Together we can find effective ways to alleviate suffering and assist those with legitimate needs. We can teach them, show them and train them to succeed. Blessed people must lead by personal example and involvement. Desperate people are yearning to find someone worthy of their respect and admiration.
The apostle Paul told Timothy to, “Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or to fix their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy. Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, storing up for themselves the treasure of a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is life indeed.”[5] Stop trusting the government to take care of the needs of others. Focus your attention as leaders, entrepreneurs, businessmen and businesswomen, and ask, “How can we assist the suffering with compassionate acts around the world, here in our nation and in our own communities?” This will prove to be an answer not only to our prayers, but the prayers of Jesus.
The real hope for inspiration and a worthy example should first be revealed through the church of Jesus Christ. Believers must come together in holy harmony and unity, rightly connected to one another, joining together for the glory of God and submitting to the one head – Jesus Christ. We must believe what God says and by His grace and in the power of His Spirit, with the whole armor of God, take a stand. We will face all challenges believing what the prophet Jeremiah promised:
“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord and whose trust is the Lord.
For he will be like a tree planted by the water, that extends its roots by a stream
And will not fear when the heat comes; but its leaves will be green,
And it will not be anxious in a year of drought nor cease to yield fruit.”[6]
Let’s take our stand right there, not only planted by the river of life, but allowing the river of God’s life to flow freely through us to a world groping in darkness. We can and must call both the church and America back to God, not just honoring Him with their lips, but loving Him with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength. Much of the church is too complacent to be compassionate and courageous. This must be corrected immediately! It is by joining together “Under God” in compassionate outreach that we will put God’s arms around a declining nation and a desperate world.
I think “The Bible” series on the History Channel is also leading people down the wrong path. In the story of Sodom, nowhere was it shown that the men in Sodom were guilty of the sin of Sodomy and wanted the 2 angels for that purpose. Is this series and many other excerpts portrayed incorrectly meant to destroy Christianity by changing it to a world view?
I would like to send you a poem that the Lord gave me about your Water Ministry. I do not know how to send it…But I will try below…
I lived in a cement house with a tin roof.
They drank water from an animal’s hoof.
Workmen drained my septic tank because of malfuntion.
I ask—“where are you going to empty that, as this was my unction.
Please show me how to get you this message….Bonnie Parvino 903-562-1596 or S636675@yahoo.com
Since the Lord gave me this regarding your ministry…..
They washed their clothes there, they drank that water too.
Now they emptied my septic tank there for the little ones to splash through.
I turned around to think what can I do?&they
They washed their clothes
It should be the duty of every person who holds the position behind the pulpit to preach to their congregations the truth of the Word instead of the watered down gospel we have been hearing. It seems to be that most of them want to be politically correct and let the government lead the way. We as the Church are going to have to lead the way by repenting. There needs to be a balance of law and grace. Jesus taught us both. They (the pastors) should be taking a stand against present day issues, but they seem to shy away from them. I appreciate the articles you write Brother James, but there are many others who could and should be joining you in blowing the trumpet. God bless you.
Praise the Lord.
Dear brother James. I Praise God for the faithful servant of God like you who can share the revealed truth as how God meant that to be shared so we can be aware of the thimgs. Need to pray for the nation.
How true your words are brother James, and how sad that Australia and Europe are all on the same slippery slope, sinking deeper each day into the dark abyss of immorality, depravity, removing God from all public places, schools, government.
But when even churches accept depravity as normal, how dark the darkness truly is .
Your articles are always right on, James. You obviously hear from God, the word He would have you speak out. Thank you for being faithful to hear Him and to obey. May God have mercy on America -may He heal our land.
I hope this gets view in other places other than your site. It needs to be seen everywhere. May the God of Isreal have mercy on America, for shame!
The following statement made by James Robison in the above commentary is descriptive of the heart wrenching condition of the American landscape. “God is being mocked while people carry in their pockets and purses currency and coins that say they trust in God, but prove to be trusting in everything and everyone else but God. It’s Pharaoh all over again and worshiping idols in the high places. It’s one thing for a person to break a law and to live a lawless life. It becomes an entirely different matter when that population or nation changes the laws to accommodate the rebellion and disregard of God’s Word.”
This commentary will not win a popularity contest. These words will not be embraced by the leaders of this nation. The love, compassion, and grace contained within the context of this divinely inspired message will not bring about a national repentance. However, Jesus Christ said “Whoever will confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.” And, there is no man that has left his house, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s, but he will receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.” This commentary is the revelation of the heart of the Father to this nation and the nations of the globe.
I am certain our Brother James has been tested, tempted, stumbled, failed, and been pulled to go the way of worldly ideology and religious compromise. I am certain Satan shoots every fiery dart possible at this humble servant of Jesus Christ. And, I am convinced James Robison has wrestled with human frailty, carnal weaknesses, and the works of the flesh. He has gained and lost, been victorious and faltered, been to the mountaintop and walked through the valley of the shadow of death. He knows the pain of loneliness; he has been slapped in the face with rejection; and he understands the heartache of a broken childhood. He carries the scars of his cross, yet the Holy Spirit and the word of truth has brought forth treasures out of darkness and he stands with compassionate love and with divine conviction in the quickening power of Jesus Christ and remains a voice crying in the American wilderness of sin, rebellion, and blasphemy.
John the Baptist, the forerunner of the first coming of Jesus Christ, stomped out of the Judean wilderness with a message of Repentance and exposed the hypocrisy and unrighteous living of that day. John was not a member of Roman political party or a member of a religious sect, but he was filled with the Holy Spirit from his mother’s womb and was a chosen vessel of God to bear witness of the Light, Jesus Christ, who would take away the sins of the world. The Spirit of God inside John exposed the adultery of Herod the tetrarch and ripped away the layers of hypocrisy from the Jewish priesthood. The world hated John and as a result he was beheaded yet, Jesus said “there has not risen a greater than John the Baptist” up till that time. Likewise, when the same Holy Spirit lives inside any man it will “reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on me; Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and you see me no more; Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.”
The American governmental system sanctions promiscuous living. It is popular to be seen with Hollywood’s rich and famous that indulges in sensual pleasures and defies the holiness of God. It is popular to sanction alternate sexuality such as homosexuality and lesbianism and it is popular to sanction the slaughter of babies since it ensures more votes at election time. Likewise it is popular to throw around the slogan “God Bless America”, but you do not see the political leaders wanting to be seen with the men of God who stand in the purity of divine love and proclaim the true message that could actually Bless America. “America, America, God shed his grace on thee” and this precious grace has been turned into unrestrained sensual pleasures, murder, lies, and hypocrisy. Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, prophesied of the end time conditions as he wrote “Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Jesus Christ is denied when his word and his servants are denied. He said “He that hears you hears me; and he that despises you despises me; and he that despises me despises the Father that sent me.” Americans live under the banner of hypocrisy by “honoring God with their lips, but their heart is far from him.” The leaven of hypocrisy has leavened the whole nation and the Spirit of the Father is still crying out against the defiant wickedness of those who “changes the laws to accommodate the rebellion and disregard of God’s Word.” We are living in the time and season of the second coming of Jesus Christ and the same Spirit that was in John the Baptist is crying out again to “prepare the way of the Lord and make his paths straight.” Even so, come Lord Jesus.”
Brother James,
Thank you for sharing your heart on this. This makes my heart sad as well. I will join with you in prayer over our country and ask God to use me to spread His love so that it can cancel out the enemy’s hate.
Peace and blessings,
Lessie

Excellent article James! Thank you!…….Robert
This message needs to be heard before its too late! I pray it’s not too late”
You`re totally correct. Too many people in our country have lost their moral compass. They have no idea where they are going.
Jesus is my LORD! … make Him yours…He loves ALL!
Thank you for this column. I especially like how you point us back to ourselves. I know that I need to engage in the very self examination you are speaking of.
Thank you for stating the truth so clearly. We the church have to wake up to reality and be the hands and feet of Christ and share with all those He places in our lives the truth in love. We need to ask Him for boldness and courage. We need to do your last paragraph. I am printing it and going to pray it.
Thank you again James!!
How refreshing and encouraging to have a man of God stand up for God’s Word and principles. Your words are so needed in our world today. Thank you for being faithful and willing to speak out to the world. Sheril
James, you are so right. I believe that America has passed the tipping point. The nation is squarely divided and God fearing people are now in the minority. There is a blindness and a lack of awareness of personal sin that has gripped our people. We no long admit of wrongdoing but shift blame to others. Right is now wrong and wrong is right.
How is it reasonable to choose a God whose teaching is death and destruction over a God of love and grace? Yet, that is what seems to be happening in the United States. I believe the time is short and the God of this world has blinded the eyes of the people.
Help us Lord to seek your face, your will and your grace.
Bro J.,
We are in total agreement of what’s taking place in
the USA. Its hard for me to grasp this of a nation, that
has enjoyed such freedoms in our lifetime as we have,
and now are letting such lofty ideas flee from our grasp
because of the few that are hell bent, godless and have
no desire other than what “I” want.
We are passed the idea of crying wolf!
There must be someone to lead into action.
If we just scream from the roof top, people may
hear us but if we do not have a plan of action
that resounds with the God fearing people, we not
have reason to point a finger but inwardly!
What to do?
God may allow us to go our way. al
Mr. Robison; your article, though true, is sure to inflame and infuriate the left, the ‘politically correct’, the ‘live and let live’ segment of what is rapidly becoming the norm in the world and alas, America. You have, sir, stated correctly that in the not so very distant future. America will be debating the ‘rights’ of pedophiles. The gay and lesbian extremist’s are only the continuing erosion of America that began with removing God from our schools and public places. It always amazes me that the ‘tolerant’ left can not see their hypocritical message of hate against Christians, especially considering that the freedoms they are attempting to delete are the very ones established by our Christian founders and fore-fathers. Hurry Lord hurry, for I truly don’t want to see what America is becoming.
Wonderful commentary. I couldn’t agree more. Your voice is greatly needed. Thank you
