Through the Years

A Life Proclaiming Freedom

Saved and Called to Preach

At 14, James had a life-changing encounter with Jesus. By eighteen, he heard the call to be an evangelist. And beside him was Betty. They married in 1963, and James began speaking in churches and crusades nationwide. More than 20 million people would hear him, with over 2 million decisions for Christ.

The James Robison Evangelistic Association

With Billy Graham’s encouragement, James formed the James Robison Evangelistic Association. Through crusades, youth meetings, and television, God continued to open doors. James continually asked the same question: “What do You want me to do today, Lord?”

Expanded Influence for the Kingdom

James carried God’s Word to 25,000 at a Mobile, Alabama crusade, 300,000 on the National Mall, and in meetings with political leaders like Ronald Reagan. A pivotal encounter with layperson Milton Green also led to freedom in his own life, and expanded his reach to include charismatic audiences.

Mission Feeding Is Born

In 1989, James and Betty traveled to Mozambique and met missionaries, Peter and Ann Pretorius. They witnessed the horrific effects of hunger and responded with a pledge to feed 5,000 children a day. Mission Feeding was born, which now feeds 350,000 children daily and saved the lives of more than 24 million children.

LIFE TODAY Launches

Television became the vehicle God used to multiply the Gospel’s reach far beyond any crusade. And as the ministry’s scope expanded, the James Robison Evangelistic Association became LIFE Outreach International — a name that better reflected the full breadth of what God was doing.

60 Years of Ministry

In 2023, James and Betty celebrated 60 years of ministry together. From one nervous teenager preaching in small churches to a global television outreach that is a part of feeding the hungry, drilling wells, rescuing captives out of human trafficking and more, James always gave the glory to God.

More than 60 years of ministry

A Life Defined by Sharing God’s Love in Word and Deed

Over six decades, James Robison preached to more than 20 million people and led an outreach ministry that helped drill over 9,500 wells delivering clean water to over 9.5 million people. He was also a part of a mission that continues to feed 350,000 children a day. But more than numbers, James’s life was dedicated to people, to the one lost, hurting, and alone – the one needing a glimpse of God’s love in a visible way.
